A.P.Systems supplies Enel group with new concentrators for the Cervantes project in Spain

Recently the formal tender phase has been defined  and A.P.Systems has been entitled to deliver devices  for over 7 millions euro Enel has recently tendered the deployment of the Cervantes project designed for Endesa.

In this proceeding A.P. Systems has been entitled to supply its low voltage concentrators which will be installed in the secondary electrical substations. The concentrators will be delivered complete with GPRS modules, porting and maintenance service and will be employed in the Spanish smart metering application; in total A.P. Systems will provide many thousands of devices for a total amount of over € 7.7 million euro.

The A.P. Systems CERCO1 concentrators, specifically designed and produced for Enel / Endesa, will be installed in the minor processing cabins and connect the domestic meters to control rooms through the combined use of power line communication and GPRS / EDGE technology. The solution  places itself in a "Smart Grid" remote management system and can merge many types of meters (gas, water, energy, street lighiting) according to the protocol promoted by the non-profit international association "Meters & More" - which A.P. Systems is member of. The application grants both the energy distributors and the enduser a better service together with the real time data consumption reading and sharp invoicing.

The ultra-long experience of Enel in this type of applications today boasts an installed base of about 32 million meters, fully connected and working in the remote management system. For over 10 years - right from the very beginning of this project – A.P. Systems has always been among the main suppliers of communications devices and contributed to its success through the proven liability of its products.

"Another success reflected in the liability and soundness of our products; in Italy more than 550,000 units are used in telemetering systems and they are all working," says Dr. Renzo Bassetto CEO of A.P. Systems "Our goal is to maintain the highest level of quality and performance of our products; this choice gave us the opportunity of achieving a leading position not only in the Italian metering market but also abroad. We are very proud of the orders received by Enel and at the same time we think it is an objective finding of our role in the market of smart metering."
