PUBLIC TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS : LIGHT, AVL AND AVM
We design, deploy and integrate management systems for AVM/AVL public transport companies.
These systems can be summarized according to the enabled performance in three different types, they are:
- the simple service certifications delivered by the fleet; it’s the “lighter” possible application which performs the on board data collection of the vehicle and retrieves them with a bacth process at the end of the day. The system performs the data analysis on this information not in a real-time situation; it help in detecting the service performance as well as maintenance planning but not on a real time basis.
- the vehicles management based on phone link with drivers and vehicles localization is often identified with the achronimous AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location). This is the most frequent application type where the fleet is linked to a control room in real time. In fact, data registration and service analysis as well as vehicles positiong monitoring on maps are available. The control room can also perform a one-way phone connection to interact with the driver.
- the management of the entire vehicles fleet with the aim of managing the service in real time according also to situations that required a big control and urban automation: this is the so called AVM (Automatic Vehicle Monitoring), which gives a logic complexity instead of the previous types. The main features are not simply the service certification and generic fleet monitoring but also monitoring the vehicle with the possibility of modifying the service and keep passengers informed. This is the solution of both vehicles and delivered service monitoring: you can perform the recording of lines trip time (hour, day and month) and forecasting the stops arrival time on a real time basis, You can also check the vechicles service at fixed net “targets” to test the fleet situation (anticipations, delays, localizations,..). You can even analyze the fleet situation in a limited period of time, give drivers tips to recover from delays or advance i.e. skip a stop or leave from the terminal after a period of time…. An AVM management system controls the eventual dynamic change in service (detours, supports vehicles,..) and makes all the consumptions and performance statistics to help taking decisions for optimizing the public trasport service.
