bannerM3SIn the M2M national and international, the MIT division of APSystems is considered as a leading provider of AMM and AMR technology. It successfully delivers its own design devices to the major Utility Companies and multinational system integrators.

Experience, expertise and technical innovation convey into what is now the M3S_logomost up-to-date telemetry system available on the advanced metering and Telemetering market: the multi-metering management system, known with the name of M3-S. It should be pointed out that the M3-S system components

  1. are entirely designed and manufactured by the MIT division of A.P.Systems which holds all rights on them;
  2. are certified according to the International (EU) and National standard regulations
  3. can be employed in different application from the mentioned ones like:
    • ICT servers metering, civil and industrial domotics, lifts
    • vending systems
    • civil and domestic security systems
    • mobile vehicle systems.

M2M: in the M2M (machine-to-machine) technical systems the AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) sector has grown up in such a clearly visible way that a new segment has come up, the AMM (Advanced Metering Management) or advanced metering. Both Utilities and Public Sector organizations take advantage from AMM solutions because this type of systems help them in deploying energy saving GreenIT projects. The AMM segment is based on technology that allows the cooperation with on-field devices (i.e. the Utilities can ask the meters for energy consumption values of water, gas or energy); this feature can also enrich the systems with

devices data retrieve and release to a central managament systems wich elaborates and manages them (i.e. calculating invoicing, publishing services on line, etc.); this is the case of AMM (Automatic Meter Management) systems since you can retrieve data from the devices, monitor and/or control (send data to) the devices.

The data communication to/from the on-field devices can be manage through different wired (i.e. PLC) and/or wireless (i.e. GSM, GPRS, UMTS, RF, etc…) network.

AMM solutions for Utilities, the advantages
The most common advanteges of an AMM solutions applied to a Utility Company are:

  • invoincing process optimization, a high ROI (return on investments) rank is obtained both by the Utility and its customers since invoices report the exact consumption value
  • customer service improvement, thank to the possibility of performing preventive and scheduled repair service according to the alerting made by the system before the effective failure take place (i.e. supply stop)
  • management costs reduction, sure enough the system dramatically reduces on site activities made on site by personnel such as meter consumption reading, technical tests and so on. It also helps in hugely simplify the accounting management since the “presumed consumption reading” accounting management is no more useful completely.
  • Company competitiveness improvement, this kind of systems help in optimizing management costs and so the company can apply a much more aggressive price policy and achieve more market shares, thinking that the energy/gas/water market is completely liberalized.

AMM Solutions for Public Sector, advantages

An example of AMM technology application within the Public Sector market is primarily a system of street lighting energy-saving. In this case for the benefits for the Public Sector are:

  • constant and point-to-point monitoring of the street lighting, which in case of Luminibus® it can reach the single lamppost
  • consumption optimization thank to the lampposts energy flux management both according to timeline (i.e. switch on from 7am to 7pm, switch off from 12pm to 4am from monday to sunday) and specific commands delivered to one ore more lampposts by a control room central software.
  • costs optimization, due to energy savings on consumption
  • efficiency optimization of the street lighting plant since the system can monitor its performing and, for instance, plan maintenance service before a lamppost fault comes up.
  • NO COST investment, in fact, there are opportunities for implementing such systems with a grant provided by organizations such as the Energy Service Company (ESCO). Usually in this case, the ESCO finances the project and the Public Sector organization pays him back with the savings accumulated in the early use of the system itself ,in this way are overcome difficulties related to availability of budget and stability pact .
