Telemetering
In
the Italian and foreign M2M market, the MIT division of A.P. Systems is one of the best high level AMR and AMM technology provider for the most important Utility companies and multinational system integrators.
Experience, competence and technological innovation convey towards the most modern telemetering and advanced metering system available at the present market: the so called MULTI METERING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, M3-S.
A.P.Systems offers a very innovative solutions, the M3-S, to:
- Utility companies (gas, water, electricity, heat) which need to complete its accounting management system with better data like consumption info obtained by remote reading (telemetering) both through technological networks as well as wireless networks, improve the maintenance service applying remote detection to prevent critical faults or plan tech actions (remote managing);
- Public sector organizations which want to put the street lighting energy saving in concrete form (in this case the M3-S is specially configured and named Luminibus®);
- System integrators which need to complete their own ICT systems with devices able to transform consumption meters into active devices, from which obtaining data and to which sending data or instructions.
It is right and fair to specify that the M3-S components
- are entirely designed and developed by the MIT division of A.P.Systems which owns all rights on them;
- has successfully obtained the certifications according to national and international standards;
- can be also employed in different areas like:
a. servers metering, domotics, industrial metering, lift metering
b. vending systems
c. industrial and domestic safety
d. mobile vehicle systems.
M2M: the AMR and AMM systems
In the M2M (machine-to-machine) technological systems the AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) has dramatically improved evolving into AMM (Advanced Metering Management) or advanced metering which is employed not only by Utility companies but also by public sector organizations to put GreenIT system (energy saving) in concrete form.
The AMM sector offers high tech communication solutions which perfom automatic data exchange with on field devices (b.e. gas or water or electricity meters) to:
- feed the central software with specific data about consumption so that to improve billing features; in this situation the system is an AMR type since obtains data from the on field device;
and/or
- control and condition the devices functioning; in this case the system becomes an AMM type because it allows not only the reading (AMR) but also sending instructions which condition the device behaviour.
Data communication to/from the on field devices is possibile through different wired and/or wireless networks, like PLC GSM GPRS UMTS RF ecc.

AMM, advantages for Utility Companies
The advantages offered by AMM systems to the Utility companies could be summarize as follows:
billing process optimization with feedback not only for themselves but also for their customers which will receive invoices based on right and real consumption;
customer service improvement, since the remote maintenance dramatically reduces faults and helps in implementing prevent interventions (b.e. avoiding a blackout);
process costs optimization, such systems dramatically reduce the on field reading, technical checks ecc. personeel costs and they simplify the billing since the presumed consumption readings are no more used
company competitiveness improvement, since this kind of systems optimizes costs and allow aggressive price policies adoptions with the aim of improving its own market presence.

AMM, advantages for Public Sector
A significant example of AMM application in the Public Sector is the Street Lighting ENERGY SAVING Management. Implementing such a system a public sector organization surely achieves at least the following results:
punctual and continous monitoring of the street lighting plant, which, in case of Luminibus®, is possible up to the single street light;
consumption optimization timization, thanks to the street light energy metering applied not only according to time schedules (b.e. switch off from 7 am to 4 pm and switch on from 5pm to 6 am, from may 1st to oct 31st) but also with specific instructions sent to the street light by central software commands;
costs optimization coming from energy consumption savings
efficiency optimization of the street lighting plant because through the system its functioning can be managed and monitored and its maintenance can be planned before faulty situation come true.
